DCM Plastic

Another trip to the recycle bin, this time for plastic. The challenge at DCM was to use a bit of plastic on a card. Simple, I thought. NOT! I made a card last week by running a piece of clear plastic packaging throught the Cuttlebug and painting the reverse with Twinkling H2Os. It looked so nice! After I put the card together I trashed it. It just didn't work. This is what I came up with last night. It's very simple - I cut up parts of the coffee bag which is lined in VERY tough plastic. I had a devil of a time punching through the corners of the coffee label.

Old Friends

This was made because I wanted to use the flowers. LOL. I made a trip to the dollar store the other day looking for double sided tape (which I didn't find) and picked up all sorts of interesting things for making cards. I fear I may go more often now that they accept debit cards. I rarely carry cash. I bought these flowers with another stamp in mind but they are perfect for this one. I used Prismacolors on watercolor paper, all other paper is SU.

Something's Fishy

Today is my DH's birthday and here is the card I made for him. He is not one for flourishes and fuss so I kept it plain. The salmon was painted with Twinkling H2Os and spritzed before stamping. Then I overstamped it in SU Mellow Moss. Paper is SU, except for the PP, which is from my stash. The second pic is a close up to try and show the Twinkles. I was trying to arrange two fish on the card - he is a Pisces, after all - but couldn't make it work. Meh.
Oh, and seafood chowder is on the menu for tonight! LOL. But no salmon - why is salmon in chowder mix? We love salmon but it seems weird to me to have it in showder.

Citrus, 2nd Try

Is this any better?

DCM Citrus

The mid week challenge at DCM:

"Now on to this weeks little extra (just to keep you on your toes !) :) This weeks little extra is an idea from Mel. Oh sooo juicy -oh so juicy - make a card using lemon or orange toned colours."

I took it quite literally with the citrus on the first card. LOL.

I may try to take new pics in better light. The colors are much brighter IRL and the orange paper under the slices is very sparkly. I like sparkly.

Valentine

This is from Holly. The black paper is marble textured. I LOVE the big heart stamp - it looks like quill work.

DCM Sketch

The challenge on DCM was a sketch. I went way out (for me, lol) and made a square card. The postal service is gonna love me! I used SU cardstock and stamped 'spring' on the PP from my stash. The scallops were from my friend Sharon, who does absolutely inspiring work.

Matching Purse

A purse to match the shoe.

Iris Shoe

I haven't done any iris folding lately so decided to have a go at it again. Mulberry paper lends itself well to the folding. There are six eyelets on the shoe - I tried to think of a way to "lace" the shoe but I guess I'm just not smart enough. LOL.

Karie's Challenge, the End

Unless I've miscalculated, these two coffee cards complete the challenge. I'll be making more anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. The mosaic 'tile' in the top card was made with the Score-Pal, a fun tool if I ever saw one! The popped up coffee mug is a scratch and sniff image but the sniff is pretty much gone. Mug image is from Qwik Art but I can't seem to access the site anymore. The second card uses brads and printed twill tape from Just Brads and Eyelets - obviously they have so much more than just brads and eyelets.

Karie's Challenge, Part the Third/DCM Dare

This is twofold. It's what, number 10 in the Karie challenge?, and also a DCM dare. The DCM dare was to make a card in red and white. The yellowish cast in the center is shadow.

Karie's challenge, Part the Second

5) 6) More pocket folds
7) 6 x 6 with aluminum foil Cuttlebut backround and new heart embellishments. If I can find the red cord, I will add to it.
8) Mini envelope card on front has a Valentine message inside.
9) Made at SU workshop.
10) An attempt at the girly/frilly type.

Karie's Blog Challenge, Part the First

Karie challenged us all to make 14 cards in the month of February. Here is the first lot.

Top: Fiona's challenge of the week on Inkstainers (masking).
2) Made t a SU workshop Sunday. The sample card had double scallops and a lot more embellishments but I could not bring myself to copy it. Pretty, but not me.
3) I just used the candy bar wrapper. Lazy me = quick Valentine. LOL!
4) For my dinosaur obsessed grandson.
5) A different fold. The first one made me crazy but I get it now.
